How to Bring Phone in Pakistan without Paying Tax

There are a big number of Pakistani living overseas who utilized to carry one or even more cell devices free of customs taxes whenever they came to Pakistan. However, things have changed. Minister of State for Finance, Revenue, and Department Of finance in Pakistan said that Pakistanis living overseas will only be allowed to carry one phone per year without paying income tax charges.

Only one phone can be brought into Pakistan by a Pakistani national living outside the country without paying import taxes.

If you bring over five phones into Pakistan, you will have to pay duty on all five of them because of personal equipment laws. For anyone staying in Pakistan for more than 1 month, an additional four-phone tax needs to be paid.

Fawad Chaudhry, Pakistan's IT minister, has said that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will stop all illegal import of mobile phones within 1 month, or till 31 December 2018.

Allowed in Pakistan each year are four mobile phones.

After Dec 1, 2018, any Pakistani mobiles that are currently operating will continue to function. After December 1st, any bogus mobile devices still in use on any Pakistani network will be assigned a unique mobile number and will continue to function as normal thereafter. Before purchasing a new or used gadget after December 1, 2018, consumers should verify the Device id. Even as Part of the extended date has been confirmed and Illegally owned Cellphones will be Banned in Pakistan on Dec 1, individuals will be extra cautious before buying a new device.

After this date, anybody purchasing a new or old phone should install a SIM card and text the phone's Device id to offer a systematic to find out if the device is legal.

Before you buy the phone, here's how to check its Device id:

Step 1: Obtain your smartphone's Device id.

Dial *#6 hashtag on your mobile dial page to get your phone's 15-digit Unique number. Your device's Identification number can be found on the box as well.

Step 2: Verify to see if the device is registered.

  • If you have your handset's reference to an existing identification number, you can check to see if it has been registered. A website, SMS, or Android app can all be used to get the data you need.
  • If you wish to check via Web then visit http://dirbs.pta.gov.pk/ > Input the Device id here > Click the 'Test' button.
  • If you wish to check by SMS, put your 15-digit Device id into a new message and send it to 8484.
  • Install the Android app if only you did like to check out the Android app. Configure the Building is a building app on your smartphone > Fully accessible mobile > enter 15 digits Registered mobile amount.

Step 3: Entering your 15-digit Identifier code/number results in one of the following messages.

  • If you see this message, you can use your device since it has been approved or is compatible with the PTA.
  • If you see this message, it signifies your device is not Addition to performance or compatible, and you will be unable to use it on any Pakistani cell device.
