How to Create a Digital Ecosystem in Pakistan

Pakistan's internet infrastructure is developing, but more slowly than in other countries. With more than 1 billion mobile customers and 62 million 3G and 4G users, the digital ecosystem has a profound impact on every citizen of Pakistan.

As a result, many more people who had no earlier outlet for their opinions or talents have found a home on social media. When compared to digital communication, social media is light years ahead since it allows for direct audience participation.

Social media also ranks high when it comes to content diversity. Because of the large number of dedicated visitors that frequent these sites, most marketers choose them. In addition, streaming sites are also catering to the needs of popular new OLVs. As a result, we frequently see new content creators who have come to see social media as a solid and viable career.

Companies in Pakistan need to work together to create a digital ecosystem

Marketers can more effectively connect with a sizable portion of the population through this digital world, but there is still more work to be done in Pakistan. Regulators need to define a digital policy if they want to improve outcomes and compete globally. Instead of simply reacting to the state's primitives, Internet groups should band together and take a position for freedom of expression.

To have digitization as a distinct holistic product, the government must pursue a digital agenda in convergence with regulatory agencies, including policy. At Jazz, a panel discussed whether changes should be made to the country's digital infrastructure for the better. Participants at Jazz were Ali Naseer, Chief Corporate and Enterprise Officer of Jazz; Fahd Husain, Publisher of Express Tribune and Executive Editor of Daily News Television; and Salman Akram Rajah, Lawyer, High Court.

Visitors to Jazz pondered strategies to better Pakistan's IT scene over drinks. Jazz has decided that the media has to have the freedom to express themselves and be organized and that this can only happen if the law accepts that smartphones are not a luxury good. The government of Pakistan must recognize the significance of digital policy in the development of Pakistan's digital ecosystem to keep up with the needs of the country's younger population. The government of Pakistan passed the lengthy Digital Pakistan Policy this year (2018).
